"I work for the United Nations as an Educational Specialist (English and Human Rights). I am currently supervising teachers of English in Palestine. My goal is to help them improve their professional practices to deliver high quality education based on the principles of social justice, inclusive education and active learning. I have a Bachelor's degree in English language and a Master's in education. I generally like working with ESL students aged 14-26. I also find it equally rewarding working with adults and adolescents who are usually frustrated with how slow their language learning development can be. I have been down that road as an adolescent ESL learner myself.

Arabic is my mother first language. I consider myself lucky to be Arabian born. Arabic is a very fascinating and rhythmic language. Even if you don't speak the language but you try to listen to it carefully, you'd notice how musical and nice its short and long vowels are produced. Arabic is also one of the United Nations international languages and it's spoken in more than 22 countries in the Arab world. I love teaching standard Arabic. I also speak it with difference dialects (Syrian - Palestinian - Egyptian - Lebanese).

My philosophy of education revolves around creating caring and participatory learning environments for students. I tend to have high expectations for my students. My classroom is positively disciplined as I value each of my students unconditionally. Whenever troubling behavior occurred, I would address the behavior to fix the problem rather than the learner. I am not a native speaker of English but I am very comfortable with all aspects of the language. Unlike native speakers, I studied the phonological, syntactic and semantic differences between Arabic and English, so I am aware of the errors among Arabic learners. I use authentic materials that increase the students' exposure to English.
