"After 25+ years in the corporate world, I have decided to pursue my passion for math and teaching by helping students who need direction understanding the basic concepts of algebra, geometry, trigonometry and other common math topics.

I am an Industrial Engineer and an MBA, so I've always been comfortable with numbers and logical thinking (I scored 98% in the GMAT math section).

My experience in teaching comes not from a traditional education background but from the corporate world. My job was mostly selling products and ideas to upper management, peers and customers, often through multi-media presentations that required me to distill and simplify concepts, and explain them in a way that got the audience engaged and committed. This skillset has proved very valuable in my new teaching and tutoring environment.

I have noticed that most of the difficulties students have with math are due to weak fundamentals, and trying to learn advanced topics without first mastering the basics. I strive to explain complex subjects in a simple manner, starting with the basics, and often by way of examples. My goal is to create the conditions so that students overcome their fear of math and enjoy the learning process.

I can also help with test preparation and test strategies, so that students can take standardized tests efficiently and in a way that maximizes their positive outcome. I focus on SAT, ACT and GMAT preparation.

I am also fully bilingual (English and Spanish) and can deliver my lessons in either language." less...
