"I am a retired public and Catholic school principal who has won both Educator of the Year (Diocese of Toledo) and the NCEA Distinguished Principal's Award. As a teacher, I developed an Economics unit that won the Teachers in American Enterprise Award, have taught all 37 of Shakespeare's plays over 14 years of teaching Shakespeare Seminars, and have had notable success recently in working with students who have Aspergers. As a principal, I founded a Montessori preschool, worked as a National Science Foundation consultant and received leadership training in the Comer School Development Model, the Effective Schools Model, several brain-based learning models and Rick Stiggins' Assessment for Learning Model, all of which I successfully implemented in several schools. As a result of these implementations, I led one school from Academic Emergency to Continuous Improvement and my last elementary building from Continuous Improvement to an Excellent Rating, the only Excellent rated school in the history of my district.

My subject strengths are math (Algebra I and lower), science, social studies and literature. I also started a peer mediation program that won four state and national awards, and I was a successful basketball and volleyball coach.

I have been tutoring students in grades 3-college since January 2013 in all subjects and Ohio Academic Assessment (OAA) preparation. My students have improved both their grades and their OAA scores, including one disabled student who experienced his first consistent academic success in years and scored at the Accelerated level on both the Reading and Math OAA, after I worked with him for four months.

I have current BCII and FBI background checks and still facilitate periodic math and reading testing in the district from which I retired.
