"I am not Italian but my stay for 3 years in Florence Italy has honed me not only to speak the language but also has extensively studied and adapted the culture, their food and lifestyle. I have taught different groups who were leaving for Italy and eventually I have devised my own lesson plan/syllabus, simplified so that my students could easily understand and appreciate better.

I'm pretty sure the Americans can as well develop and acquire the Italian language. What's important is the interest in studying it and conversing always to someone who speaks it whether you may be wrong or right. In that way you can achieve the patrimony of the language. Italian is a romantic and a melodious lingo - very vast in its vocabularies and very interesting to listen to conversations in Italian.

My approach in tutoring would be more on conversational teaching but of course the basic grammar should be studied by heart. I'm also very particular on pronunciation. By the time we finish studying my "book," you'll get to speak, write and understand Italian and you'll appreciate even more to the point of continuing on studying more and enjoying it the more.

Italian culture is very interesting and the food/beverage very delectable & known all over the world. Gestures are also important facets of Italian daily life and these would also be learned.
