"I'm Melissa S. I have Masters degrees in Elementary Education and Secondary Education from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. I am currently working as an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) teacher. I am a certified K-6 Elementary teacher in the states of Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi. I have experience tutoring in English Language Arts and math. I love tutoring, because it allows me to work one-on-one with students and easily adapt lessons to the individual student's learning style.

I became a teacher because I love to learn something new every day. I also love to take that knowledge and teach it to others so that they also learn something new every day. Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, and it definitely makes me a better teacher. I always have a book, dictionary, magazine, or newspaper near me so that I can be more informed about what is happening around me.

English has always been my favorite subject, and I have an excellent command of the English language. This includes grammar, spelling, vocabulary, and writing. My math qualifications include Elementary (K-6) math, middle school math (algebra), and high school math (geometry). I have had some training in the Alabama Math & Science Teaching Initiative (AMSTI) method for Elementary math.
