"I am passionate about reading and have been working with children and their parents to share this passion since my first library job in 1987. As a trained science teacher, I also shared a love of science and the natural world with children through my job as Youth Services Librarian at the Incline Village Library. Since 2015, I have worked directly with families through Northern Nevada Literacy Council's Family Reading Program. I help children build literacy skills while helping them see reading as a fun activity that supports brain development.

I love seeing the light in children's eyes when they connect with a book! Children are learning machines with unending curiosity--when they recognize books as the key to learning more about the world around them, they become engaged in learning to read and their learning takes off. It's truly exciting and gratifying!

I am a trained teacher, have am a children's librarian with a Master's degree in Library Science, and have been the Family Reading Program Coordinator for Northern Nevada Literacy Council since 2015. I have worked with children (and their parents) for hundreds of hours modeling and using techniques that are proven to build literacy in children from preschool through elementary school.
