"Hi! I'm Natalie S., and I love sharing the joys of music! As much as I love studying music, I know from experience that sometimes, it's incredibly frustrating and it can be so beneficial to have a little guidance. I have been playing French horn for 12 years and recently graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), where I received my Bachelor of Music in Performance. (I also received a Deaf Studies Certificate from University of Cincinnati and I'm very passionate about ASL!) At CCM, I studied with some of today's greatest horn players, including Randy Gardner, Denise Tryon, and Elizabeth Friemuth. I've also had the pleasure of taking lessons with and playing in masterclasses for David Cooper, Frank Lloyd, Bernhard Scully, and Michelle Baker.

I've performed with ensembles including the KMEA All-State Orchestra, the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra, CCM Wind Symphony/Concert Orchestra/Philharmonia/Chamber Winds, The Sewanee Symphony, McGill Symphony Orchestra, and the McGill Contemporary Music Ensemble, as well as many small chamber groups.

I have three years of experience teaching private lessons to beginning and intermediate horn players and two years of experience tutoring music theory and aural skills. I love teaching and I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all method--I enjoy the challenge of figuring out what teaching style works best for you.

Some of my other interests include knitting, drawing, learning other instruments (I can get around on trumpet and piano and I'm also trying to learn accordion and ukulele!), playing with my cat, and studying other languages (I took four semesters of America Sign Language and now I'm working on learning French!).

Looking forward to working with you!" less...
