I'm Alison, an established tutor and proofreader with a master's degree in training & development. Experience as a graduate research assistant polished both my writing for publication and my proofreading skills. Over several years since then, I have tutored students for college level writing up to doctorate level, specializing in APA format. This includes many dissertations, the majority of which have been for Ed D.

My first experience of tutoring or coaching was helping other girls with their math homework at grade school level! They just wanted the correct answers, but I had to help them to understand my favorite subject! The "aha!" moment in a student is what sets me alight. Born and educated in England, I have always been an avid reader and I now tutor in math, grammar, and reading comprehension for K-12 alongside my work with higher education.

Over a decade in the USA and a master’s degree here has helped me to acclimate to American English, and the minor differences in grammar. After presenting at conferences as a graduate research assistant, several years with Toastmasters has further honed my public speaking, speech evaluation skills, coaching and mentoring abilities.
