"Hi, my name is Matthew! I’m the founder of East Bay STEM Tutoring and for years I have been a STEM tutor with a focus on helping students of all ages excel in their studies. I tutor throughout the East Bay in-person and virtually through Zoom. I have an academic background from UCSD, MIT, and UC Berkeley over the course of which I researched a broad range of biology topics. During my studies I found my passions for both science and teaching. Through tutoring I get to translate my experience into success and engagements for students. When I am not tutoring I work at Oxford Biotherapeutics, working to develop the next generation of cancer therapies. I believe that every student has the potential to succeed and I am here to help them reach their goals!
I was inspired to pursue my career in biology by a series of excellent and influential professors. My goal of tutoring is to emulate their success in providing a role model and effective teacher for my students. I love sharing the moments of comprehension with students and how learning can deepen a students understanding and curiosity about the world.
The bulk of my classroom teaching experience comes from my two years experience working as a program coordinator for the Be A Scientist program. I instructed groups of students to learn a variety of fundamental science techniques and concepts and designed experiments they could perform in class. Additionally, I have years of experience tutoring science and math classes to elementary, middle school, high school, and college students.
I strongly believe in taking a highly personalized approach to each student I work with. Ahead of the first lesson, I offer a free consultation to discuss with students and parents the best approach for each lesson. Additionally, after each lesson I will work with you to understand your areas of opportunity and create a customized plan to help you succeed. I look forward to working with you and succeeding in my goal is to empower a lifetime of academic success." less...
