"My name is Katherine. I have been tutoring since 2011. I have a BS in chemistry, a BA in physics and astronomy from the University of Pittsburgh, and finished at the Harvard Extension School in International Relations in the beginning of 2023.
Throughout my career as a scientist, I continued tutoring and teaching as it has become my passion.
I worked as a chemist in a industrial laboratory for 6 years receiving two patents. Afterwards, I became a substitute teacher at the high-school and elementary level on all subjects. I decided to switch careers and work in the non-profit humanitarian sector. In 2018, I began a masters part time in International Relations as I traveled to over 25 countries and lived in Dubai and Beirut, Lebanon.
In 2021 I co-founded an NGO in Lebanon Beirut with a group of teachers to form a feminist and anti-racist community center where free classes are held for children of all ages. We teach academic skills such as reading, writing, math, and science, along with a holistic approach to education that includes education on healthy habits, community values, and empowerment to find each students' inner voice. I now spend my time between Beirut Lebanon and New York as I connect to other education NGOs in the USA.
I love teaching. I tutor math, science, and now geography, world politics, political science, and lastly writing, especially academic writing. I love teaching others especially in new, creative ways that connect what you love with the subject at hand. I like to figure out the way you learn and teach you on your terms especially for those who consider themselves neurodivergent. Teaching any subject is a dialogue." less...
