"Greetings,
I am a very experienced tutor going back to my high school years (almost 20 years ago) when I helped my fellow students through the MathLab program at my high school. I have also done private tutoring when I was in college and grad school, helping mostly high school and community college students in the West Los Angeles area.
I am currently an Adjunct Math Professor at Foothill College. I have also been a Teaching Assistant almost every term when I was pursing my PhD in Statistics at UCLA. I can help students of all levels, from Pre-Algebra to Differential Equations.
My teaching philosophy is to make Math fun for students. I find that if I can make the student interested in Math, then he/she will be far more likely to stay focused and engaged. As a tutor, my duty is to help the student understand the concepts, I will explain them in different ways and via different angles if the student finds difficult to understand my initial approach. With my experience, I am able to quiz my student and tell if he/she really understood the concepts, rather than just memorized how to get the solution for a particular type of problem. Many students that I've worked with in the past often find how easy Math really is, and how useful Math can be in everyday life. Getting better grades is just a nice little add on.
Every student is different, and I will have to use different techniques in order to get the most out of him/her. If you are interested, please let me know your objective, student's current comfort level, and all the course information available (syllabus, textbook, and etc). so we can work out a plan together." less...
