"Mathematics is a way of thinking and problem solving that involves creativity and imagination in addition to logic, analysis and computational skills.
Tutoring helps a student to explore various ways to look at and realize the solutions required in mathematics that often cannot be fully conveyed in a classroom setting. My experience lets me understand a student's current capabilities and explain various ideas and techniques to accomplish mathematical proficiency.
Even a mathematician needs to find a path to understanding math! It is a very individual learning process. My goal with tutoring is to present multiple viewpoints to help a student grasp the concepts. I like to use visual thinking, diagramming, and analogies. I also explain the actual mechanics, notation and symbols required to solve a given problem.
I encourage students to be inventive in learning yet practical by doing the work.
Word problems? No problem! One of my specialties is word problems in Algebra and Min/Max and Related Rate problems in Calculus.
Contact me with you current needs and requirements and we can work toward your advancement in improving your math skills and success." less...
