"I'm Alex, a 22-year-old male with a true passion for mathematics and science. I have been tutoring for 6 years and have had great success with my students, ranging from elementary school to undergraduates in college, both traditional and non-traditional. I have experience tutoring elementary, middle and high school students before entering college with many of the subjects listed in my profile. Throughout my undergraduate career, I have assisted in tutoring students in courses as well one on one in various courses related to coding, mathematics, and meteorology. Upon entering graduate school, I will be teaching undergraduate students in a class setting in courses related to my field, which adds on to my previous experience of tutoring students. Combined with my high school and college experience, I have become very proficient with various math subjects varying from Algebra 1 in middle school to a more difficult math subject such as Differential Equations in college. Having recently taken the GRE, a standardized test in the United States created and designed to assess a candidate's potential for graduate or post-graduate study, my quantitative reasoning score was sufficient for all graduate schools that I applied to. The skills and concepts tested by the GRE included Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, and Data Analysis, all of which encompass the fundamentals of which I will be tutoring. I have had a passion for meteorology as far back as I can recall, and love the science given how much it integrates the physical, mathematical and social sciences. One typically thinks of a meteorologist as those on television at first thought, but overall the field specializes in a broad spectrum of applications as well, which molds a particular way of learning for the science. This molding process is something I want to bring through tutoring as well, which means I will shape each tutoring lesson to the student's needs and observe any strengths and weaknesses within the subject that would enable my tutoring to benefit the student the most. Within that process as well, I am here to encourage each student to learn in not only in a systematic way, but in an enjoyable, fun way as well! I do not design tutoring in a lecture-style format, rather I walk each student through a problem first, and allow them to practice on their own so that I can examine where the student struggles the most throughout the solving process. I prefer one-on-one tutoring and enjoy engaging my students with fun and challenging math problems. I like to apply math to real world situations to allow my students to fully understand the relevance and necessity of knowing and using math in their everyday lives. I find it not only important to understand my interested subjects but also able to teach those subjects as well. Within the field of meteorology, we are always ask to not only be able to understand the fundamental equations and science behind it all, but also able to explain it in a way that is easy for those outside the field to understand as well. I believe this philosophy holds true for tutoring as well. My goal with students is to see him or her advance in their own knowledge and make significant progress with time. Please feel free to reach out to me for any additional information, and I will respond as quickly as possible to schedule a lesson! I look forward to working with you to obtain positive results in reaching your academic goals!" less...
