"My passion for teaching stems from my love of learning and communicating that knowledge with others. I started formally tutoring in high school and continued it through my undergraduate, graduate, and now in medical school. I did well in college (magna cum laude and major honors in undergraduate, 4.00 in graduate school), but this did not come without its struggles. Not every class has come easily to me, and after encountering so many professors and TAs who had no patience in explaining difficult concepts at my level, I promised myself that I would always be patient and understanding when guiding other students through material that they are struggling with. I want to help you succeed! I will meet you at your current level of understanding, and we will work together from there until we meet your goals. What I have found helpful in teaching myself and others is understanding the "why" and "how", rather than simply the "what." Though this may require a little more time, it solidifies a foundation upon which new knowledge can be built, and it is much better for long-term retention. This approach has been of great benefit to my students, and I have received recognition for my teaching approach in graduate school as a TA. In my first year of graduate school, I won the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award for my department (1 TA chosen among over 50 TAs).
I have a B.S. in Physics with a minor in Computer Science. I have an M.S. in physics-based Meteorology and have collaborated with researchers at MIT to conduct a study on thunderstorms with anomalous charge polarity. I am now in medical school while concurrently working on my MBA and MHA degrees.
Being essentially a professional student (will have 5 degrees by 2024!) up to this point means that I can relate to your position in most of the classes that you are taking! I have also taken the SAT, ACT, GRE, and MCAT. My favorite subjects to teach are high school, college, and MCAT Math and Physics, though I also enjoy teaching other subjects at different levels." less...
