"Hello! My name is Devon. I have a bachelors degree in psychology and a master's degree in social work. For my day job I work in the field of Neuropsychology. I am responsible for conducting cognitive tests on people of all ages. Our goal is to figure out how different parts of the brain are functioning. Fortunately for me, this job involves a lot of math. I have always enjoyed math and science and how well they blend together. I get to see this every day in my job.
Math has always been my favorite subject, in school I was in the Algebra Club and the Math Honor Society. Math requires a specific set of rules and strategies in order to find the correct answer. I see math problems as sort of a puzzle that needs to be completed. The rules of math are what we use to solve this puzzle.
In my tutoring I like to combine my love of math and my experience in field of psychology. I like to show students how fun math can really be. I also love to show them how it can be used in everyday life and maybe even in their future careers.
I have been a math tutor for over 3 years now. I tutor primarily online and have worked with students all over the country. I am available to tutor most middle and high school math. Primarily I focus on Pre-algebra, Algebra and Geometry but I can also help with other middle school math levels. I can help with anything from homework help and test preparation, to general review and guidance in class.
