"We all need music today - more than ever as we live in this unprecedented times. Whether you're looking for an instructor for your child, or yourself, thank you for stopping by to read my profile!

I have been an active musician and a music educator for over 20 years providing private lessons on alto, soprano, tenor, and baritone saxophones, flute, and clarinet, as well as the Japanese shakuhachi. I teach all ages kids to adults, and all levels from absolute beginner to collegiate level and amateur musicians.

Aside from private lessons I've taught jazz workshops and various school residency programs. Over the years, some of my student became award-winning soloists, and some of them not but joined several ensembles. Some of them just loved to play at home and never performed. Whatever the case, music became a part of their lives and I'm thankful that I've been able to help them develop that special connection with music.

I have a BA in Music from San Jose State State University, with concentration on Improvised Music Studies. I have received a number of awards, including the Latin Jazz Corner Flautist of the Year Award in 2010. I have also had the privilege of performing in prestigious jazz venues and concert halls around the world including The Fillmore, The Apollo Theater, The Flint Center, and The Guggenheim.

My philosophy as a teacher is to help students develop their own personal connection to music, allowing them to discover and embrace the the magic of music, with pure joy and positivity. I was touched by music at a young age, and it remains to be the most mysterious, and the most magical positive force in my life. It's been truly amazing to be able to share this magic with aspiring musicians.

Because of the pandemic, I am not offering in-person lessons, but I'm happy to say that online lessons have proven to be quite effective, and I've had much success with my students all over the country using Wyzant's platform. Hope to hear from you, and don't forget to ask about a free first lesson. : )" less...
