"My goal is to identify individual student’s gifts and strengths, and then show the students how to leverage their own talents, enabling them to develop their own specific study skills and work habits. This will lead to better grades and test scores in the short term, and transfer over to superior performance in the workplace in the long term as well. If you live on the west side, there is little chance that you do not have a friend or neighbor that I have tutored.

Working as a graduate representative on the Admissions Committee at Stanford University for 5 years provided insight into the college selection and application process. This, along with my current position as a Professor of Physics at Santa Monica College, allows a distinctive ability to assess and prepare students for the challenges in making the transition to college level work.

Regardless of how it is presented, math can be seen by students in many different, possibly unintended, ways. A few of the ways it can be seen is as a language, as visual, and also as purely symbolic. Observing how a student 'sees' the material enables me to individualize teaching techniques. Finding different approaches to bring out the individual strengths of students has been instrumental in developing my teaching and tutoring methodology.

I feel that the key ingredient for success is being comfortable with your tutor. No matter how skilled someone is in the subject matter, they can not teach and bring out your strengths if they don't put you at ease. Lets meet and find out." less...
