"I graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Applied Mathematics. I have been tutoring for about nine years and have tutored a wide variety of subjects, but my favorite to teach is Math of any sort. I started tutoring my peers in high school, and from there I started branching out and tutoring other high school students in my area. In college, I was an accredited Chegg tutor who also tutored for the Virginia Tech Math department.
One of my favorite things about tutoring is what I call the "AH HA" moment. That moment when a student has been struggling with a subject matter and then all the sudden the light bulb turns on and it starts to make sense. I fully understand that some people may feel that math isn't for them, but I will do my best to make it as fun and interactive as possible.
I also understand that math can be quite challenging at times. I have taken plenty of classes where I felt lost and had to reach out for help. I was very fortunate to have had great tutors and teachers and will do my best to employ those same techniques to help my students.
I am very patient and do my best to tailor my teaching style based on each student's needs. I have no problem going over the same material over and over until my students understand it to the best of their ability. There is no such thing as a dumb question, and I will happily go out of my way to research other means of teaching a subject if for some reason my method is not effective for my student.
Feel free to contact me at your convenience and I will answer any questions that you have!" less...
