More than a few years ago, I tutored independently for the first time since I was a student at Wilton High School. The tutoring sessions were a success. One client was eager to meet on a weekly basis to review topics such as the preterite tense, imperfect tense, subjunctive tense and the difference between por and para, among others. We worked together until she understood the various topics and it worked out extremely well.

My passion for the Spanish language and English as a Second Language (ESL) has set forth a longing to serve others as a tutor. Ever since I returned from my semester abroad in Sevilla, Spain during my sophomore year at college, I have felt confident when conversing with native speakers. While in Spain, I took classes about the history of Spain, current events in Spain, literature from the 18th and 19th centuries, and Spanish linguistics. In Spanish linguistics, I learned the "complex linguistic variety" of el Andalúz, that varied depending on the region of Andalusia, among other topics.

After taking the Spanish linguistics class in Sevilla, I pursued Spanish and Globalization Studies as my majors at Gettysburg College. Ever since graduating I have worked with several and they appreciated my efforts and the opportunity to work with them to further their confidence and ability with the Spanish.

Finally, I require students to give me at least a four day notice to provide material that they would like to review for the upcoming session. That way, I can plan accordingly and the session will be a success for both me and the students at the session.
