"Hi I'm Andrew! I graduated cum laude at UC Davis in 2016 with a major in Chemistry. I had arrived at Davis as an engineer but switched to chemistry because organic chemistry was easily my favorite class! I had done research and been published as an undergraduate with plans of pursuing a PhD. I was part of a PhD program at UCLA where I realized research wasn't for me. However, as a graduate student, part of my responsibilities was to be a teaching assistant (TA). It was here that I developed an appreciation for teaching and an understanding of where students might struggle, especially when their professor has a style of teaching that does not suit them. I really gained a passion for teaching organic chemistry as a TA and hope to continue to do so as a tutor.

As a TA at UCLA, I taught a number of classes through my first two years. I taught five quarters of organic chemistry and three quarters of advanced lab courses. The students in those classes were usually sophomores and juniors with chemistry or biochemistry majors. The level of knowledge was varied, from junior college transfers who had already taken some organic chemistry to pre-med students who just wanted enough to pass the MCAT. As for my own knowledge, apart from teaching organic chemistry, I took these same courses as an undergraduate, took advanced versions of these course as a graduate student at UCLA, and then took the advanced courses again when obtaining my Master's degree in Chemistry from Ohio University.

With this knowledge and experience I really hope to help students achieve their goals in organic chemistry and be that resource that helps them be confident going into the final, MCAT, ect.
