"I am a retired Special Education teacher with specialized training in the Orton Gillingham method of reading. I have tutored elementary age students with Dyslexia as well as students who struggled with reading in general. As a reading instructor, I enjoy getting to know the students' strengths and what areas need special attention and then watching them progress through the intense phonics instruction program. Through consistent participation in the OG method, the students gain self confidence in their ability to read and have fun during the lesson.

I have an MS degree in Special Education, have worked in classrooms with students of varied levels of special needs, from severely disabled with no ability to communicate to students with mild disabilities who need assistance in the classroom and with homework completion. I have a personal connection in desiring to help students with special needs to be successful also. One of my sons was severely disabled which enabled me to have a keen understanding of the parents' wishes for someone to care about their child's well-being.

I have recently relocated to the Peoria area from Colorado to be closer to my family. I left a part time student support teaching position in an elementary school there as well as several private tutoring students and would like to resume tutoring in my new setting.
