"Hi! My name is Yasmine. I am a current undergraduate student majoring in pre-health policy and management at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I am minoring in Health and Society. Throughout high school and even now, I've always been heavily interested in taking English and Humanities courses. Ever since I was a kid, reading was one of my biggest passions, especially with fiction novels, mystery, and classics. I pursued this interest with creative writing classes in high school, making my own food-related blog in senior year, and taking English courses at UNC currently. Although I'm not majoring in English, I still exercise my reading, writing, and comprehension skills through classes related to my major, especially in areas like sociology, history, and psychology.
My tutoring services consist of mostly helping out my younger sister and younger cousins with studying for the SAT and English classes in high school. During senior year of high school, I helped tutor two students, one sophomore and one freshman, in chemistry and Spanish, which I found to be extremely interesting and engaging. The one-on-one sessions and interactions highlighted the importance of patience, encouragement, and individualized tutoring in supporting a student's specific goals and morale. Additionally, I've applied teaching and mentor skills in my job at my family's restaurant when it comes to training three employees in the past. Both of these experiences have shaped my understanding of how clear communication, patience, and positivity can help people be more motivated to learn and discover the study skills that work for them specifically.
I'd love to gain more experience with mentoring and tutoring students. I am open to any suggestions or feedback on how to improve my teaching. Feel free to contact me with additional questions and ideas." less...
