"I have a bachelors degree in psychology and a masters degree in mental health counseling with a specialization in childhood developmental and mental health disorders. I currently work in therapeutic foster care and all of my children that I work with are special needs children with a variety of different disorders. I have worked in a mental health facility and was a therapist for children with special needs which was mainly ADD & ADHD. I also was a case manger working with children with Serious Emotional Disturbances.

I understand the patience that it takes to work with children with special needs who are capable of learning just like children who are not special needs. However, it takes someone with the skill and knowledge to effectively teach/tutor special needs students. Having a special needs child can be overwhelming for some parents and they may not have the time or energy to actually help their children academically and that's where I come in and work with the child to ensure that they are successful academically and also in life.

I teach empowerment and leadership groups to children with special needs to ensure that they are capable of living healthy and productive lives and to also ensure that they have the same academic opportunities as every other child. I will prepare them for taking test by teaching them calming techniques and also showing them strategies that will allow them feel confident and self assured when taking tests. Parents will see a difference in their child academically and will notice and difference in their confidence level.

I have a child that is special needs and I work with him daily to ensure that he is successful academically and personally. I also have worked with special needs children for over 18 years and understand the time, energy and patience that it takes to work with children who have special needs.
