"Let's get ready to learn, I have been tutoring and teaching Spanish since 2002. For three years I taught grades K-8 in Colorado Springs and I am licensed by the state of Colorado to teach Spanish. My specialty is helping students who are confused and bringing them up to speed. My goal is to empower students and help them think critically as they learn to get them to a point where they don't need me.

For me, Spanish was a gateway to traveling, climbing mountains, and experiencing other cultures. After taking a few years of French, a couple years of Latin, and four years of Spanish in high school, off to college I went to get my degree in Spanish and Communication Studies from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.

During my sophomore year I studied abroad in Valladolid, Spain. There I lived with a host family and volunteered at a local charity where I started working with a 15 year old student who wanted to learn how to read. After my adventures in Spain, I returned to my studies and continued to expand my Spanish portfolio. Once I returned, I worked for the University Tutorial Services to prepare students for their study abroad trips and help students who needed extra support taking their first foreign language. At the same time I started teaching Spanish 1 and 2 to home school students in a nearby community.

Along the way I worked with the Migrant Worker Healthcare program for Keystone Health centers for a couple of years. There we went to different camps of migrant workers to perform health checks. I served as a translator between the nurse and migrant worker. In my last year of undergraduate studies, I worked for the Migrant Education Program. This involved giving the children of the migrant workers an opportunity to learn some English while their parents were working.

For my internship I went to San Juan, Puerto Rico to work as a volunteer at an orphanage. There I helped with homework assignments, tutored individual students, and organized after school activities.
