"Hi, I’m Vickie. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology and chemistry from Brigham Young University and have been a licensed and registered (ASCP) medical technologist for about 32 years. During that time, I have taught and trained many other medical technologists, now known as MLS, Medical Laboratory Scientist. I have taught and worked in serology, immunology, hematology, blood bank, microbiology, chemistry, urinalysis, coagulation, phlebotomy and genetics. I also actively help and train the support services for the laboratory in collecting and processing samples for laboratory analysis.

I love teaching and helping others. I have tutored friends and family in general science, math, microbiology and chemistry. I was the science tutor of a home-schooled high school student for a year and helped a family friend pass a college chemistry class after 3 months of tutoring. Science can be a very confusing subject. I have found that by using visual aids and real-world examples, I can break down a difficult subject and teach it piece by piece.

For the past 8 years, I have taught the children in my church, ages 9 to 11. I’ve enjoyed teaching that age group and love their enthusiasm.
