"I am a chemistry professor specializing in college general chemistry and biochemistry, and all levels of high school chemistry, including honors and AP. I have been a full time chemistry professor for over 10 years, during which time I have taught hundreds of students, with a wide variety of backgrounds, abilities, and confidence in chemistry.

My teaching is characterized by clear explanation of concepts, as well as a focus on problem solving skills and strategies for success in introductory chemistry and beyond. I have extensive experience adapting my teaching style and content to meet the needs of all my students, and frequently make use of every day analogies to explain challenging chemical concepts. Through my own teaching experiences, I have learned to anticipate common areas of confusion, and I can break down even the most complex problems into simple steps. I especially enjoy working one-on-one with students, and watching them grow not only in competence, but also in their confidence to "do" chemistry. My favorite success stories are those where a struggling student who is ready to quit chemistry discovers a passion for the subject and even decides to pursue chemistry or a related field as a major/career.

I am skilled at explaining difficult topics in a way that makes them easy to understand, and presenting them both in great depth and at the big picture level. There is probably no question you could ask that I haven't heard before, and I will answer each question with clarity, depth of understanding, enthusiasm, patience, and good humor.

I have a Ph.D. in biochemistry, and my areas of expertise are in enzyme reaction mechanisms and kinetics. I regularly teach a range of biochemical topics, including structure/function relationships of biomolecules, enzymology, metabolism and regulation, and biochemical techniques.
