"For 15+ years, I have been teaching in-person and online in high school and college classrooms in the United States and Japan. I serve annually as an AP grader for AP World History (WHAP), a class I teach extensively. I also teach and score materials for AP US History (APUSH) and AP European History (AP Euro). As a former department chair for English, I taught and supervised AP English Literature and AP English Language. I have managed writing centers specializing in writing fluency, undergraduate and graduate-level research, and college applications. I am also an organic farmer, running a three-acre teaching farm where I demonstrate sustainable practices, provide gardening workshops, and discuss principles of environmental science.
The classes I teach include World (Global) History, Japanese History, Chinese History, East Asian Civilizations, Global Environmental History, American Environmental History, American/US History, Modern European History, the History of Science and Technology, American Literature, British Literature, Literary Criticism, Nature Writing, Mythology and Folklore, and Introduction to Philosophy.
I teach in a straightforward manner, developing understanding of content while honing skills and strategies that contribute to your emergence as a more effective learner and communicator. By emphasizing core concepts, we work to improve comprehension and confidence, strengthening critical thinking, reading, and writing skills.
If you want a cheerful and flexible tutor who explains concepts and materials clearly and effectively, please reach out." less...
