"For undergrad, I attended Barnard College, the historically women's college of Columbia University. I studied Physics and German, and filled my extra time with studio art classes. I was awarded the Henry A. Boorse Physics Prize in Physics, and am now a PhD student in physics at the University of California, Santa Barbara. I am passionate about STEM education, and worked for two years as a Barnard Peer-to-Peer tutor teaching students in Calculus in addition to tutoring privately.

I believe that anyone who's deemed themselves "not a Math Person" has the ability to do really well in all levels of math. From experience, I understand ways to help physics feel graspable, and to help students make seemingly obscure concepts logical and applicable to real life. My philosophy centers around the fact that that individuals have different learning styles, and that teaching effectively requires understanding each student's unique needs.

Thanks to my liberal arts education in college and in high school, I have excellent writing skills across a diversity of subjects and circumstances. In college, I took classes in sociology, literature, history, etc.; some of the courses I most enjoyed included Contemporary German Prose Fiction, Culture of Food and Health in Japan, and Race, Class, and Politics in New York City. In studying German, I frequently wrote essays in both English and German. I am also an expert in writing application essays (successfully gaining admission to undergraduate and PhD programs), and have a plethora of experience in scientific writing necessary for communicating research. Additionally, I am National Science Foundation (NSF) graduate fellow, and have experience being successful in writing fellowship applications.

I've been lucky to study with many inspiring teachers, and know how influential a great instructor can be; I'm excited to help others find success in achieving their goals, too. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!" less...
