"Hello! I am a graduate of Princeton University living in NYC. I majored in Astrophysical Sciences, graduating magna cum laude. I have earned many commendations for my work at Princeton, including winning the Jocelyn Bell-Burnell award for my achievement in physics during my first year. I have been tutoring since my sophomore year of high school, when I was selected by my Honors Chemistry teacher to help my peers, and I have not stopped since!
I have always been enthusiastic about teaching and education. In my experience tutoring all throughout high school and college, I have loved making connections with students, encouraging creative problem solving, and implementing test-taking strategies. I set high standards for my students, but also encourage mutual care, empathy, and respect. In my 11 years of private tutoring, I have instructed over 50 students in mathematics, statistics, astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, and SAT/ACT preparation. All of these students, from ages 10 to 37, have had tremendous success in their studies.
In my free time, I am avid theater enthusiast, both as a performer and a spectator. I also continue my foreign language education in French, German, Italian and Mandarin.
In my research, I use the principles taught in advanced math classes everyday. I can effectively communicate the applications, and help students understand why they are studying specific subject matter. Moreover, in middle and high school, I was always in a math class that I felt moved a little too quickly for me, so I know what it is like to not feel totally up to speed on information at a given time. I understand many of the misconceptions that students have about many topics in math, because I had them as well, and I really love explaining my strategies and thought processes that made the material "click" for me.
I am very excited to work with students in all STEM subjects. I am eager to help you achieve your goals, so please reach out!" less...
