"I have recently moved to Washington State from London, UK. I completed a postgraduate teaching certificate in London and qualified in 2009. I have 6 years experience of working in a variety of primary schools (3-11 years) and spent 5 years working in one school across the elementary age range. While I was there I tutored 2 pupils privately in English to improve their grades. Currently I am in the process of transferring my qualifications here so that I can complete my Washington teacher's certificate. I love teaching and enjoy watching children learn new concepts and ideas. I enjoy learning from my students and using their interests to find a way to teach them. Over the years I have worked with many pupils and their is nothing better than watching their confidence in their own ability grow.

Having taught in the UK I am familiar with the importance of meeting standards and developing lessons and plans so that students can meet them. I am able to research common core standards required and develop age appropriate activities and give support using previous experience from the UK.

As a primary teacher in the UK I taught reading, writing, math, handwriting, science, etc. and have experience planning and carrying out fun activities around each subject.

During my time in London I was phonics co-ordinator in my school responsible for phonics teaching across 2 year groups. In UK children have to complete a phonics test to demonstrate reading ability and I worked hard to improve the school's performance over 2 years and was recognized for this.
