"Hello, my name is Ruby. I am a certified medical coder with 14 years of experience in Patient Financial Services and Health Information Management (HIM). I have six years of experience coding outpatient accounts for a hospital. I also have over five years of medical coding tutoring experience on several platforms. I currently hold two AHIMA medical coding certifications, including the Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and the Certified Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P). My first certification was my CCS-P, taken in ICD-9-CM, and my CCS was taken in ICD-10-CM. I also earned my RHIT certification in late 2019. I earned my BS in HIM in 2022, and in December, I earned my CPC certification via AAPC.

I have completed classes accredited by AHIMA in the following subjects: introduction to computer applications, basic medical terminology, human form and function, introduction to health information management, legal aspects of health care, basic pathophysiology, pharmacology for allied health, international classification disease, diagnosis coding (ICD-10), CPT procedural coding, health information management statistics, health care quality management, HIM computer application, alternative delivery systems, and introduction to management.

My goal is to help medical coding students gain more knowledge and confidence with ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS.
