"I have been tutoring for a long time - I worked with college students whose primary language is ASL and I tutor in different subjects. Then I moved to Texas and worked with elementary/middle school aged children, mostly in reading and writing. I taught elementary at Texas School for the Deaf and loved it! Currently, I am a tutor with a few clients for ASL though anyone of any age is welcome to reach out to me!

I enjoy working with people of all ages in different subjects, and each one of them is so unique that I try to find a way to match their learning styles so they can learn more efficiently. Hands-on, sure! Visual, yes! And I often would have them to try to do things so they can build confidence in subjects that they initially struggled with.

Working in 3 different elementary schools in Texas have helped me to learn new methods that I did not learn as a child. I am able to explain the new methods with an emphasis on place value (for adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing) as well as measurements and geometry. I worked with Origio and Go! Math workbooks in the past.

I adore reading and I used to be an editor-in-chief for a literary magazine. I continue as a beta reader for some authors and am proud of it. I worked with many students with reading and they improved by the time our sessions ended. I would only work with Deaf students or students that use ASL for any reason as it's my native language.

When I proofread an essay, I can either show how it's being fixed properly by teaching the students at the same time and they can try to find it OR I can just proofread and sent my edits.

I'm a native American Sign Language user so I'm comfortable with the language, completely. I worked at Texas School for the Deaf as a teacher so I'm always staying updated on the new signs and everything. I can also explain about the Deaf culture. I make this my mission to include every aspect of ASL. A lot of people believe that it's communicating with hands - yes, it is a part of that BUT it's so much more!" less...
