"I have been working with children for the past ten years whether it was out of the classroom as a nanny and reading tutor or in the classroom as a teacher. I started teaching in 2011, first with children with Autism and now I teach second grade in an Integrated Co-Teaching classroom in the Bronx. I am a lead special education classroom teacher and am experienced in working with children on specific goals in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. I have experience in a variety of classroom settings and enjoy working with children who learn in many different ways. I have a great deal of experience in modifying instruction and creating curriculum to support the learning needs of many different types of learners. Most of the work I do in my classroom involves working with small groups of students or with students one-to-one in order to support growth towards very specific reading, writing, and math goals. I have experience designing curriculum based on supporting children with a variety of different needs in order to support the child in reaching their goals. I have knowledge and experience with 1st-5th grade common core standards and the curriculum. I have experience working with children with a variety of special needs including ADD/ADHD, Asperger's, Autism, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and other reading/ writing/ math challenges. I have experience designing curriculum working towards supporting children with executive functioning and memory challenges. I am also experienced in the Orton-Gillingham Reading Program. Please note that once the school year ends on June 26th, I will be available at most time throughout the day, 6 days a week." less...
