"After teaching for 23 years, I received a fellowship for a doctoral program in special education. Literacy and language will be my focus as I work on my dissertation. My experience includes teaching and tutoring reading, English, ESL/ESOL, and social studies. I am trained in Orton-Gillingham multi-sensory methods for teaching reading to students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties. I have a graduate certificate in teaching students with language-based learning disabilities. I am also skilled in helping students with executive function issues.

I am experienced in teaching grammar, decoding, reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and writing. I believe in providing students with visual and hands-on activities to make learning more engaging. I am adept at scaffolding new learning so that students gain confidence and become more independent readers and writers.
