"I am a retired college science professor. My graduate degree in microbiology is from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. I have taught at Texas A & M, Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, the University of Houston, and Houston Community College. Some of the courses I have taught are introductory biology, introductory chemistry, microbiology, cell biology, genetics and biochemistry.

Since my retirement I have tutored students in the subjects listed above as well algebra, geometry, trigonometry, earth science, history and literature. I have also assisted students in preparing for the SAT, ACT and other exams.

I have found that I really enjoy tutoring. It has given me the opportunity to meet and work with students of various backgrounds and learning needs. It is very gratifying to me to help a student in mastering course material and also improve their grade.

I am not myself a math whiz. I always did alright in my math courses, but I had to work hard. Therefore I have a natural empathy for students having trouble with math. I have found that many students need extensive review of fundamental concepts and math manipulations before they are ready to start to work on new topics. I am good at prealgebra, algebra I, geometry and trigonometry.

I have always enjoyed learning and sharing that enjoyment with others. I am very patient with those having problems with what are many times difficult topics. I always encourage my students to learn to appreciate the material the are studying because I am this help them understand the material and do better in the course they are taking." less...
