"I am a retired police officer/supervisor and have worked part-time for a variety of private sector employers where I was responsible for assisting with security and safety as well as the investigation of criminal activity. I have an A.A.S. Degree in Criminal Justice from Sussex County Community College, a B.S. Degree from Felician College, and a Master of Arts Degree in Human Resources, Training and Development for Law Enforcement from Seton Hall University. Every one of those degrees was obtained with honors and I have been inducted in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Sussex County Community College and the Kappa Delta Pi – International Honor Society in Education at Seton Hall University.
Education and training has been a focus in my career with the Rutherford Police Department. In 1989 I was chosen to be one of the first D.A.R.E. Officers in New Jersey and began the D.A.R.E. program for the grammar schools in Rutherford. In 1991 I was trained to teach the D.A.R.E. Senior High School program. I served as the Rutherford Police D.A.R.E. coordinator for 10 years. In 1998 I completed the certification requirements for the Community Policing Institute of New Jersey and was instrumental in creating a Junior Police Academy, writing the lesson plans that were utilized. I have also served as a Field Training Officer for the police department and have been responsible for the training of dozens of probationary police officers, one of whom is now the current Chief of Police, John Russo. While attending Felician College, I was asked to serve as a guest lecturer by Professor Gary Krulish at Berkeley College in Union, NJ. Professor Krulish asked that I speak to his Introduction to Criminal Justice students about my experience as a police officer and to give an overview of the Criminal Justice System in New Jersey." less...
