"My name is Savannah, and I am a student teacher this year with George Mason University. I have experience with tutoring and teaching in that when I was in high school I would help my brother and sister with homework and projects. As far as teaching, I have been a swimming coach for 3 years now and have shadowed classroom teachers 3 times for my graduate program, as well as helped out with instruction in those classrooms. I have experience with Blackboard Collaborate, Zoom, and Google Classroom, and will graduate with my Masters degree in Elementary Education: Curriculum and Instruction this spring.

A little bit about me is that I live with my fiance in the Winchester, VA area. I am originally from Southwest Virginia. I love to cook and bake, as well as craft, read, and exercise, or sometimes watch my favorite shows on tv. What I love about tutoring is working closely with a single or small group of students. I enjoy getting to know them, and watching the students I work with improve in confidence and skill level.

I qualify as a science tutor because I enjoy bringing concepts to life for students. I like to make lessons fun and engaging for students by "making {science} visible".

I qualify to be a reading tutor because as a child, reading was my absolute favorite subject. I believe that reading is an extremely important skill and it's important to have a good foundation in not only reading skills but interest in reading as well--so I would strive to find readings that are enjoyable and relatable for students so that they build a love of it early on. In standardized testing reading, spelling, and writing were among my highest scoring categories. I hope to earn my certification as a reading specialist in the next couple of years.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have, whether it's personal questions about me, my experience, or wanting to know when I'm available." less...
