I have been studying biblical Hebrew and Greek since 1987 at first with the intention of understanding ancient words and concepts, but then in seminary this education expanded to biblical history from an archaeological perspective and methods of exegesis taking into account the history of the canonical text and text critical problems together with post-biblical history of Judaism and Christianity. During a period of work between degrees I learned biblical Aramaic and began writing up research. My second masters was devoted to exegesis of Classical Biblical Hebrew, Rabbinic Hebrew, Aramaic, and Syriac, with focus on translation techniques of the ancient translations compared to their Hebrew Vorlage and also considering Qumran scrolls. After the MPhil from Cambridge I went to work for stepbible.org annotating each verse in the Old Testament and New Testament that has a lexical or text critical crux that results in variations among ancient and modern translations. In 2017 I began full time work on a monograph which I completed in 2021 and am preparing for peer review.

I would say that my primary focus has been research and writing, so I would be helpful for students who are learning the languages with a view to writing undergraduate theme papers or graduate theses.

I am ideal for a broad education in biblical topics in conjunction with language learning. I have learned Egyptian, Akkadian and about Hebrew in its ancient Northwest Semitic setting, inscriptions of Ugarit, the El Amarna letters, Hebrew and the trans-Jordanian nations of Moab, Edom and Amon. I am also versed in archaeological topics of the Fertile Crescent and Egypt, and have lived in Jerusalem for over a year.

I am a native English speaker, write well, and have read many commentaries, articles and books in the field of Biblical Literature and Studies that include close arguments in grammar and linguistics.

I deeply love the study of biblical literature, and encourage you to contact me to help you with a broad, thorough and insightful und" less...
