"I have taught experiential education in residential camps and campuses most of my life. I was nature instructor from 1965-2000 where I led programs in all the natural sciences (ornithology, natural science, entomology, conservation, botany, and biology, zoology, mammology, ecology, and herpetology). Many jobs involved developing my own curriculum. Aside from teaching subject content, I led group-building activities. Since 2000, I have taught general biology with emphasis on the outdoor laboratory. In addition, I have mentored Boy Scouts and taught in residential settings. Presently, I am teaching medical terminology at Stark State College. I have also been substituting 3-5 days each week for schools in the western half of Stark County. About half of my substitute experience has been a high school curriculum including math, science, business, physical education, English, and Spanish. I have experience with Mac computers and have taught the basics of Microsoft.

As a teenager, I completed an Outward Bound program in the state of Washington. In addition, I have mentored Boy Scouts and taught in residential settings. My residential camp work includes assignments with students from different ethnic groups and income levels. I have worked in camps for underprivileged and special needs students at sites from New England to Alabama and the Southwest and have worked with students ranging in age from kindergarten to Road Scholar (Elderhostel) participants. My diverse background and experiences with traditional and non-traditional students makes me an excellent tutor. As a field biologist and nature photographer, I have traveled professionally and for recreation. These travels have taken me to the southwestern US and frequently outside the United States to Latin and South America, allowing me to embrace the food, dance, and customs of local and endemic cultures. My most recent trip was to Tanzania but have traveled in South America, Costa Rica, and Mexico." less...
