My name is Stephen M. and I live in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania with my wonderful wife, our eight year old son, twin eleven year old girls and a fourteen year old son.

I am an experienced Social Studies Teacher, with more than two years experience working with Cyber Schools, and nearly a year within the classroom. I have taught all grade levels from seventh through twelfth. Teaching is my passion, and I love interacting with students, especially one on one interactions. I hold a Master's Degree in History, and I am currently enrolled in a graduate program for education. My strengths include an ability to weave material together, helping students to understand overarching concepts, as well as more minute details. I also enjoy relating historical events to modern life, so as to help students draw important conclusions.

As for my tutoring methods, I am equally comfortable with face to face and online sessions. I find that one of the best ways in which to help a student learn is to break the information down and make it relevant. Further, I find that Social Studies can put too much emphasis on the "names, dates and places" of the past. As a result, I try to infuse this more basic information with a deeper understanding of historical themes such as continuity and change. If students can draw links between the past and the present, they will not only become more educated individuals; they will also learn to appreciate where we are as a society today, as well as where we came from.
