"As a Math and Science Learning Coach for the last five years I have worked with many students in a private school setting who require a variety of teaching styles, information presentation, and explanations on every subject from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus. As an on-demand provider I am proficient at fielding questions, from content to what is the best way to improve my score on this test. ACT and SAT testing require a unique skill set that for many is not intuitive but can be learned with practice and insight. I have worked with multiple students to improve scores, even students who first language is not English. Having the tools to be successful in math is my mission, as I do not believe that anyone cannot conquer the challenge and gain confidence and proficiency.
For those who need graphic representations, visual material is a must! For those who work kinesthetically using your hands to construct, manipulate, and represent is critical! For those whose math knowledge disappears the moment the test is given, strategies for reducing anxiety and facilitating success are a priority. Do you fit somewhere in between and need to find effective ways to comprehend the material presented in a way different from the way that you learn? Working with students individually to find specific solutions is my experience and my passion.
As a math tutor for the last five years, I have worked frequently with students who are often frustrated, confused, and overwhelmed. Having come to math as a non traditional learner I too have memories of feeling as if no amount of practice or explanation will make the information understandable. I do not want any of my students to continue feeling the same and work in each session to be thoughtful about individual needs while also never wavering from the belief that success is possible. Was Geometry wonderfully clear and Algebra impossible, does the Unit Circle look like a foreign language, do you wish that the amount of letters rather than numbers in an equation was not equal? These are all obstacles that can be overcome with patience, practice, and insightful tutoring!
I look forward to working with each and every student. Please contact me if you would like to schedule a tutoring session :)
