"I think a real education happens when students are inspired to ask questions and independently make connections between ideas. My goal as a tutor is to empower my students with the tools and confidence they'll need to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners. My family moved to Argentina when I was nine years old, where my brothers and I were enrolled in Spanish-speaking school. I began with no knowledge of Spanish, but picked up the language quickly, and spoke fluently by the time we moved back to Minnesota. Since our return, I have gone back to South America regularly for several months at a time, which has allowed me to maintain my fluency. I particularly enjoy working on verbal fluency in Spanish. I have always had a keen interest for learning and examining languages, including my own. I am passionate about writing and reading, and love to use my enthusiasm for both to inspire new learners. No matter the type of learner, I think enjoyment is fundamental to progress in learning; I try to approach reading and writing by way of things my students are interested in." less...

Education and Qualifications
I am a creative, enthusiastic and patient tutor who is very adaptable to working with individual needs. Through my experience leading an after-school tutoring program for middle school students, I have had the opportunity to teach to a variety of native languages and academic strengths. I enjoy creating lessons to fit the different learning styles of my students, and firmly believe that learning should be both challenging and fun. As a bilingual teaching assistant at a middle school, I learned how to constantly evaluate my students' needs and act on behalf of their academic well-being. I am comfortable working with a variety of academic and linguistic needs, and enjoy working creatively to fit lessons to the needs of each particular student. I have experience working with students in math, science, English, social studies, ESL.
