"Hello potential students and parents! I have a BBA from GWU, and recently took the MCAT- I know, "Business? How the heck does that correlate to medical school?" well it's a long story that I'd be happy to tell in person! "Hello potential students and parents! I have a BBA from GWU, and recently took the MCAT- I know, "Business? How the heck does that correlate to medical school?" well it's a long story that I'd be happy to tell in person! What's most important is I am well-versed in a wide array of subjects and would love to teach any and all of them. About me: I am in my mid-20's and plan to be for the next 10-15 years. I am fluent in French and Spanish. I am a sucker for YA novels and the classics. I played piano for 6 years. I swam competitively for about 10 years or so. While I absolutely love to sing, I'm not too great at it. I recently started volunteering at a hospital in their emergency department and I am absolutely loving it. I was a TA at an inner-city elementary school in DC for 3 years, assigned to K-2. I've been tutoring for the last 10 years. I'm super expressive so if I'm speaking too energetically- let me know and I will pull back ASAP! Donít ever feel embarrassed about a question you want to ask or if you feel awkward about an answer you've given me because I have probably said something a million times more awkward or embarrassing in the past 24hrs. I tend to make really strange analogies to explain things, so if it doesn't make sense to you, let me know and I'll come up with a new one- I can't promise it won't be equally as random, but I CAN promise it'll help you understand whatever it is you're asking about. Donít let my friendly demeanor undermine the fact that I take my work very seriously- above all I want to help you and provide you with the service and level of professionalism you expect from me. The youngest student I've taught was 6 years old, and the oldest was 45. They were both awesome. I'm flexible and very understanding of last-minute issues that pop-up before a lesson. Please try to give me at least 3hrs notice. Obviously if something comes up totally last minute, just let me know as soon as you can! I'm also completely fine with last-minute lesson requests; I just can't promise I'll always say yes. I CAN say that if you're willing to meet online instead of in person, the chances of my saying "yes" increase dramatically because while the last-minute scheduling might be a slight inconvenience, your flexibility in meeting online almost always completely negates that. Also, if you have an issue with my rate or you wish to schedule group lessons and want an adjusted rate, no problem, Just let me know and we can discuss this! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. References can also be provided upon inquiry. If you are interested in my services I very much look forward to hearing from you, otherwise, I wish you and yours the best of luck in your search for a tutor and hope you get the help and attention youíre looking for! [The subjects I have tutored in the past include but are not limited to:] ~~Spanish: all levels. There's no such thing as being "bad at a language". I will make sure to focus specifically on weaker areas and help you transcend your struggles. If you are struggling with grammar, donít worry, I have an answer for any and every question you could possibly have regarding this. In my experience grammar is the biggest issue for students, as no one ever explained the WHY behind certain grammar rules. I know once I explain these grammar conundrums, I will get that, "Ohhhh!! NOW I get it!Ē response. ~~Reading: all levels. Many people have trouble with reading. I remember growing up and just having to deal with the fact that not all words sound the way they look. Had someone told me something other than "that's the way it is" in response to, "What is the point of the silent e?Ē, I would have had a much easier time with not only my spelling but my reading too. While there are exceptions to spelling/pronunciation rules, providing these rules to students along with explanations, greatly boosts their confidence in reading. The rule they apply may not work for the particular word they are trying to read and understand, but at least they have somewhere to start with sounding it out, instead of staring blankly at the page. ~~Writing: all levels. I can help with anything from grammar, syntax, organization, coming up with ideas, editing, figuring out a way to actually get your ideas on paper, etc. I also help with college/university essays and have an amazing track record with doing so- several of my students were told their essays were phenomenal by program admins of schools to which they were accepted. ~~Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Sociology, General Science: These subjects fascinate me and I am more than happy to help you study, complete homework assignments, and explain topics. ~~French: While I can read and write fluently, I learned to do so outside of school, meaning it is difficult for me to explain the grammar/spelling intricacies. This being the case, I shy away from helping people learn these aspects of French. I can however help with the speaking, pronunciation, and help you build conversational/vocabulary skills. ~~Study Skills/Organization: This is immensely important to academic success and I'd love to guide you and help you build these skills. You can be the smartest, most academically dedicated person in the world but if you aren't well organized or you don't know how to study properly, it will be much more difficult for you to live up to your academic potential. ~~College/University Apps: Embarking on the school application process without knowing exactly what to do and what to fill out can be daunting. School apps are sometimes overwhelming, and getting a tutor to help with the areas you're a little unfamiliar with, can make all the difference in confidence and potential admission. " less...
