"Hello, my name is Amber. I am a current 6th grade special education teacher, and have been working at my school for 4 years. In college, I earned my degree as a special education generalist with an endorsement in elementary education and English as a second language. What this means is I am qualified to teach any disability ages 5-21. I am certified to teach any academic area for grades K-6, and I am certified to teach anyone who is learning English.
I am most experienced with K-6 math and language arts. I currently work with kids with learning disabilities and help them “fill the gap” in reading, writing, and math. I work with kids who have ADHD/ADD, Autism, and behavioral needs.
I believe the key to success for any student is to first build a connection. The best learning will happen when a child feels connected to his/her tutors, teachers, etc. I not only use this philosophy daily in my classroom, but I plan to follow this while tutoring as well. I also feel that students should be empowered to take control of their learning. Nobody enjoys academics when it feels forced. Because of this, I want to know what your own goals are and what you would like to gain from these sessions.
I received my licensure for K-6 teaching. I currently teach 6th grade language arts and math, supporting students with learning disabilities. I also have experienced teaching math and language arts to 6th graders learning at the 2nd-3rd grade level.
I have my English as a second language endorsement and am qualified to teach people who are learning English. Please know that I only speak English, but I have studied and learned research-based practices to help people develop their English skills.
I currently teach in a school with a high population of English language learners. I teach students of all levels, including students who have recently moved to the United States and know little to no English.
My college degree is in special education I am licensed to teach people with disabilities ages 5-21 with any disability." less...
