"Hello I'm Ashley! I graduated from the University of New Hampshire. I have a Bachelors degree in Psychology, with a heavy concentration in Child Development. While I was pursuing my Bachelors Degree and for a short time post-grad, I worked with students, ages 3-13, with a diagnosis of Autism. This consisted of assessing milestones of development and teaching to deficit areas. After my time working with students with a diagnosis of Autism, I moved on to teach as a special educator in an elementary school.

I am currently a Special Education Teacher working primarily with students in grades K-4, in the general education setting. My expertise is particularly in behavioral support and connecting behavior support to academics. I work to make learning as engaging and painless as possible. My teaching style looks like: Introducing the topic in a fun & engaging way, building on the subject in small, attainable steps, and then applying what is learned in a game or fun activity. This allows the student to make contact with the content in different ways to ensure retention and mastery of skills. Every lesson is differentiated to each student, to best reach their individual needs. I am very flexible and willing to make changes as needed.

I am very passionate about working with children with all abilities. I understand school can often be challenging and stressful. I work every day to ensure that my students feel safe and loved. I believe that students need to be happy, relaxed and engaged in order to learn. I can assure you that each session will be filled with relationship building, constant support and lots of learning. I look forward to working with you.

I approach subjects like math in a very delicate, but engaging way. I believe in the low and slow approach. Math can be very daunting for learners, so I approach math in a step-by-step, attainable way. I am very familiar with common core standards, so I am comfortable meeting your learner where they are at and moving forward at a comfortable pace.
