"I have been a teacher for my entire professional career. While the subject matter might have changed from math to computers and other subjects, teaching has been my life. I have had nearly 20 years experience teaching students aged 12-70.

After I finished student teaching, I was able to be a math substitute teacher for a faculty member’s maternity leave. The fall after graduation I began teaching math in Martinsville, IL. Since it was a small district, I had to teach algebra I, II, geometry, trig, and calculus all in the same year.

I left Martinsville to work at EIU. While there, I taught faculty members how to use WebCT (software that institutions use for online classes). I, along with others in my department, put courses online and also helped faculty members adapt existing courses for online learning.

Besides having strong teaching skills, I also have strong computer skills. At Martinsville School District, I installed all the computer equipment, and maintained the district’s computers and network. I am familiar with both Mac and PC. I am able to repair any desktop problem and can repair many laptop problems as well.

While I was employed with Eastern Illinois University I provided technical support (Mac and PC), purchased and installed computer hardware and software, taught workshops for faculty, and developed training materials for software which enabled faculty members to put courses online. I also supervised student and graduate workers.

These past ten years, I have been directly involved with the public. I do sideline work for a few companies helping with their websites and purchasing and maintaining PC’s. I have strong people skills. I am friendly, get along well with others, and I can work in group settings and independently on projects.

I have enjoyed each place that I have worked, but I miss my first love, mathematics. Recently I was hired to help tutor a college math student from my church. I enjoyed this so much that I’ve decided to look for other tutoring possibilities. I look forward to this" less...
