"Hi my name is Shannon and I'm a high school math teacher turned mom. I taught Algebra I and Algebra II for five years in Hawaii until I met my husband who is in the Navy. Needless to say with all of the moving, and becoming a mother, I did not go back to teaching full-time.

Eager to get back to teaching, I had the opportunity to work at Accelerations Learning center (in Hawaii) tutoring children after school, primarily math. This gave me more experience tutoring in small groups and especially one on one. Most recently, before we moved (once again), I taught two homeschooled teens Algebra 1 and 2 in one year (in Rhode Island). My last job with my homeschooling was so rewarding. I love it when kids say they hate math or aren't any good at it...then I am able to change their minds about the subject. It only takes one teacher to unlock a student's true potential for success! Hopefully I can be the one who does it for you or your child!

I have an MEd from University of Phoenix. I specifically taught Algebra 1, Algebra II, and Survey of Mathematics - which included some Geometry, statistics, Algebraic functions, and probability. I also have a bachelor's degree in Business Economics with emphasis in Accounting. In my previous career, before I began teaching, I was a CPA.
