"Hi! I Chasity! I am a full-time teacher currently working with a wide range of students; including those with learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, Autism, ADHD, and those who are English language learners. I am starting my 8th year at my current teacher position working with 11 to 17 year old students. At my present position I teach basic reading (all grades), basic math skills (all grades), Math (6th -9th grade), English language arts (6th-9th grade), Science (6th-9th grades), and Social Studies (6th-9th grade). I am also Special Education Department Chair at my current school.
I graduate from Jacksonville State University with a degree in Special Education. I am currently a student at the University of West Alabama working on my Master's degree in Special Education.
I enjoy teaching and working with a diverse group of students. I have a great love of reading; for enjoyment and for teaching it! As a student, math was always my favorite class and what I excelled at. For these reasons reading and math are my favorite things to teach. I am at my best when working with students in small groups or one-on-one and feel that tutoring would be a great fit for me!
Math has always been an area in which I excelled! I love teaching basic math skills. I want to make sure the students I work with have the foundation for math that they need to be successful in their math classes, and in life. For the past eight years I have taught basic math skills and math intervention classes, as well as 6th-9th grade Math classes for students working on the Extended Math Standards.
Reading is so important to all areas academically. I love working with students to improve their basic reading skills and hopefully spark their interest in reading. For the past 8 years I have worked with students to teach them reading skills and strategies to help them improve how they read and gain knowledge from what they read. I have always worked with students with grammar, phonics, vocabulary, and writing skills.
