"Hello! My name is Shelby. I am currently enrolled in Lee University, and I am graduating in December of 2021 with my Bachelor's in K-5 Interdisciplinary Studies. I have a passion for teaching, and a passion for helping children flourish in their educational journey! I absolutely LOVE everything about teaching and tutoring, because the "lightbulb moment" is something that every child should have a chance to experience.

I have been doing tutoring on the side since I was in high school. I have volunteered at several after school programs in my area to help students with their school work. I was also a daycare/preschool teacher for 1 1/2 years, which included curriculum planning and teaching.

I tested out of most of my math classes in college, because I was so ahead in the material. I also took solely advanced classes in high school, because I love a challenge. Math is my favorite subject to teach, because it is often most hated by students. I see that as an opportunity to turn something as tough and boring as math can be, into something fun that students will look forward to!

Science is my favorite subject to learn! I originally thought that I wanted to do nursing because of the science aspect, but teaching is where my heart is. Science allows me to show students that there is more to the subject than just memorization; it's also creativity! Science has so many possible teaching opportunities, which is why I enjoy it!

I made a 32 on the English portion of the ACT, and even though it was never "fun" to me in school, it has always been my strongest subject. I am capable of reading, writing, grammar, essay/paragraph formation, and much more. I look forward to showing students how much fun learning English can be.
