That fits me pretty well, and my approach to tutoring. Show me an interesting problem, and I will work with you to make sure you get it, best I can.

My day job is a Linux Admin, though my passion remains with Information Security (or, Cyber) - sometimes they overlap. I also have a degree in Network Administration. I loved Math, though never went farther then a semester of Trig.

I considered pursuing a degree as a programmer, but just couldn't see myself doing it as a career. I still code recreationally (primarily in Python or Bash (Linux), but occasionally JAVA) - I know pieces perl, Ruby, and have made frequently attempting to learn C (including a formal Intro to programming class in C that never got around to more then a passing mention of pointers and references). I have a lapsed CCENT (Cisco Certified Entry-level Networking Technician), after missing my CCNA my a couple of questions, and have taken classes corresponding to Microsoft's certifications for Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7.

Beyond my technical qualifications - what can be said for tutoring skills? Well, when I tutored (informally) for a Linux class, one of the people I was tutoring for, remarked that I should become a teacher. Take that for what its worth.

I love an interesting, engaging puzzles -- send me yours, and we'll work through it. I'm also interested in breaking out of just a specific subset of students and topics. The only way I can become a better tutor is working with different people." less...
